Located on an entirely private 28,000-hectare heritage site, Mt Mulligan Lodge offers boutique accommodation in the shadow of majestic Mount Mulligan.

Guests staying at Mt Mulligan Lodge will be able to experience the spirit of the North Queensland back-country through a captivating landscape with indigenous significance dating back 37,000 years.

The expansive property bears the marks of the historic gold and coal rush and in its current operation, as a working cattle station, the pastoral history of Australia.

The majestic Mount Mulligan dominates the surrounding landscape; the conglomerate and sandstone tabletop mountain boasts a spectacular 18 kilometre escarpment that towers over the surrounding Australian eucalyptus woodlands.

Mt Mulligan Lodge lies beneath this undiscovered landmark with views overlooking a sparkling weir and is an all-inclusive luxury property accessible via a 35-minute scenic helicopter flight from Cairns or a 2.5-hour 4WD adventure from Cairns.

Ensuring an intimate escape, the lodge accommodates just 16 guests at any one time and features three different room types, a beautifully designed main pavilion for guest meals and relaxation, an infinity pool and sunset bar.

Each guest room at Mt Mulligan Lodge is also assigned its own electric buggy to explore the sprawling property with ease. A range of experiences have been designed to make the most of the rugged outback territory.

Mt Mulligan Lodge offers guided tours of the goldfields including a demonstration of Australia’s oldest operating gold crusher at Tyrconnell, exploration of the historic Mount Mulligan coal mine and abandoned township, ATV adventures discovering the history and beauty of the region, chef-prepared gourmet picnic hampers, wildlife spotting, sunset drinks overlooking the escarpment, stargazing, hikes around the southern face of Mount Mulligan, barramundi fishing in the weir, scenic helicopter flights and the chance to experience the day-to-day operations of a working cattle station.

Mt Mulligan Lodge offers a light, contemporary and daily-changing menu that showcases a bounty of locally-sourced, caught and freshly-grown seasonal fare.

The menu puts a flavoursome twist on outback living and the cellar has been crafted to ensure harmony between cuisine, climate and environment featuring iconic and boutique wines from Australia’s renowned wine regions.

HELICOPTER TRANSFERS

Helicopter transfers via Cairns

Easily accessible from Cairns Airport, enjoy a 35-minute helicopter transfer over the Kuranda Ranges and Atherton Tablelands to Mount Mulligan.

Domestic passengers arriving into Cairns Airport will be met at the baggage carousel by a friendly member of the Nautilus Aviation team. International passengers will be met after security screening in the arrivals hall.

Guests are to keep an eye out for a Nautilus Aviation sign which notes their surname.

For any guests making their own way to the Nautilus Aviation hangar, the address is Hangar 9, Bush Pilot’s Ave, General Aviation, Aeroglen QLD. Guests are to meet at the hangar no later than 30 minutes prior to their scheduled helicopter departure time.

ONE DAILY SCHEDULED CHARTER EX CAIRNS

Cairns to Mount Mulligan – departing 2pm, arriving 2.30pm Mount Mulligan to Cairns – departing 2.35pm, arriving 3.10pm

$350 AUD one way, per person

If the daily scheduled charter is fully booked on your clients’ preferred dates of travel, or if the scheduled timings don’t coincide with your clients’ itinerary, a private helicopter charter may be arranged at an additional cost (subject to availability).

There is no charge for infants under three years of age when seated on the lap of an adult passenger. Children aged 3+ years will be charged at the ‘per person’ rate as for safety reasons they require their own seat.

VEHICLE TRANSFERS

Ground transportation to Mt. Mulligan Lodge is available upon request basis.

Rates are $900 one way for a luxury vehicle seating 2-4 pax. These private vehicles offer the option to purchase pre-selected drinks and are operated by a third party.

Mt Mulligan can also operate a 4WD bus for $2,000 one way seating up to 12 pax.

IMPORTANT NOTE: There can be road closures on the road to Mount Mulligan in the wet season from January to March. Mt Mulligan Lodge recommends booking helicopter charters for transfers during this period in the event of any road closures. Due to the challenging nature of the road to Mt Mulligan we also suggest booking a private car transfer unless you are experienced at driving 4WDs on unsealed roads.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

WEATHER POLICY

Mt Mulligan will not accept any responsibility for adverse weather conditions.

BLOCK OUT PERIOD/S

Mount Mulligan will undergo a seasonal closure from Saturday 30th January to Sunday 28th February 2021 inclusive. Further block out periods may apply, and the Northern Escape Reservations Team will update you on these periods in due course.

CANCELLATION FEES

Any cancellations made 61 days or more prior to arrival; no cancellation fees apply – Any cancellations made 60 – 31 days prior to arrival; a 50% cancellation fee applies (accommodation and helicopter transfers) – Any cancellations made 30 – 0 days prior to arrival; 100% cancellation fee applies (accommodation and helicopter transfers) – Unused Services, no refund can be given for any unused services or early departures – All cancellations must be received in writing.

CHILD POLICY

Mt. Mulligan welcomes children. Infants are classified as <2 years of age. Portacots are provided, free-of charge, to infants in either the Suite and Pavilion. Children are classified as 2-17 years of age. Special children’s menus are available on request.

CHILD DISCLAIMER

Parents, by entering into an accommodation contract with Northern Escape, accept all responsibilities for their child(ren).

MINIMUM STAYS

3-night minimum stay required between 18th December 2020 to 3rd January 2021, inclusive. For any bookings in-house that fall over any one of these dates, a 3 night minimum stay will apply.

HELICOPTER TRANSFERS

Helicopter transfers to/from Mt. Mulligan are operated by a third party.

At the time of booking, it’s mandatory for guests to supply their individual body weights (kg) to confirm helicopter transfers.

On the day of transfer, passengers are restricted to a maximum of 15kg of luggage each (this includes hand luggage).

Any excess luggage can be stowed at the respective Nautilus Aviation hangar.

Each helicopter type is limited to certain payload restrictions.

Should a couples’ combined weight exceed 200kg (2 x passengers plus luggage), an additional upgrade fee will be applicable.

Should a passenger’s individual body weight have a variance of more than 10% from their initially quoted weight, Nautilus Aviation Pty Ltd. reserves the right to charge an additional upgrade fee.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Although all care is taken, Northern Escape Collection cannot accept responsibility for any expenses incurred by a passenger as a result of any domestic/international flight delays, reschedules or alterations, mechanical failures or poor weather.

It is suggested that guests take out travel insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances.

RELEASE OF BOOKINGS

If any of the aforementioned conditions are not met, Northern Escape Collection reserves the right to release all bookings.

NO SHOW POLICY

Full cancellation fees apply and will be billed to the agent.
