Outstanding guided dive trips on some of the best sites the Great Barrier Reef has to offer.
Description
Tour Details
Our scuba diving Great Barrier Reef tours and courses are designed with quality in mind and we cater to small groups of a maximum of four divers, so you can be guaranteed expert guidance, supervision and tuition.
There are no minimum numbers for our trips so you are guaranteed a small group of between one and four divers on any tour.
Choose from Introductory or Certified Dive. No experience is necessary for Introductory Divers. We teach you the basic skills needed to explore underwater and to feel the sensation of being totally weightless before you get to experience it for yourself on two fun dive sites.
Certified Divers are treated to three magnificent dives on some of the best sites the Great Barrier Reef has to offer.
All tours are pre-designated as Introductory or Certified Dive tours by the guests who book them to ensure you get the most from your guided underwater exploration.
Both experiences operate from Calypso Reef Cruises’ purpose-built dive vessel Calypso Ten, providing access to locations on either the spectacular Agincourt, Opal or Tongue reef systems.

About Us
Scuba IQ was formed in 2016 by dive professionals Martin Connolly and Louise Gill who between them bring
more than 25Â years of experience in the scuba diving industry.
They have worked in a variety of locations including New Zealand, Thailand, Turkey, The
Philippines, Spain, Malaysia & Mozambique.
Martin Connolly first learned to dive two decades ago in the cold, dark challenging conditions of New Zealand’s South Island where he then went on to begin his career as a Scuba diving Instructor.
Over the last 15 years of working as an Instructor, Martin has gained the skills and experience which enable him to deliver high quality diving tours and courses.
These experiences include working on a long-running coral reef rehabilitation project in Thailand.
In his capacity as a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, Martin has assisted with the teaching of dive instructors.
This has also seen him fill the role of an interpreter on Instructor Examinations, as Martin is fluent in Spanish, while over the years he has also taught divers in French, Italian & German.
Louise Gill has spent many years working in dive centre management positions.
A large proportion of this time saw her based in Asia, where she managed some of the busiest dive centres in the region.
During this time, Louise gained an intimate understanding of the most important aspects of a dive operation.
This coupled with her attention to detail and friendly personality make Louise the ideal fit in her role as administrator for Scuba IQ where she handles all of the day-to-day running of the business.
Terms & Conditions
-
Certified divers must produce a valid dive certification card on the day of travel. This can also be in the form of a temporary certification card (issued within the last 90 days).
-
Due to Queensland Scuba diving regulations, all divers need to complete a medical questionnaire before starting any PADI dive course/program or undertaking guided diving activities. Certain medical conditions and/or medications may preclude you from scuba diving and will therefore require a dive medical release from an approved Scuba diving physician prior to travel. This can be done locally at the divers’ own expense. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding your fitness to dive.
-
Certified Divers: It is the responsibility of certified divers to obtain a valid dive medical prior to the trip if your state of health has changed since completing your last dive or since your last dive medical. This includes the intake of medications. Please see the link to the Queensland Dive Medical Statement and if any doubt exists please Contact Us.
-
We advise a wait of a minimum of 24 hours before flying after scuba diving Great Barrier Reef.
-
We strongly recommend that before travel, you obtain insurance which provides specific cover for scuba diving activities, medical evacuation and dive travel. We suggest that it also includes coverage for missed flights, altered accommodation arrangements or any other inconvenience borne out of any unforeseen circumstance that arises while participating in one of our tours or courses.
-
Before cancelling any trip or course, please Contact Us to see if we can arrange a new date or a suitable alternative.
-
Cancellation of any trip or course made within 24 hours prior to the booked tour date or ‘no shows’ will incur a 100% cancellation charge with no refund.
-
Any cancellations made within 24-48 hours prior to the tour date will be refunded 50% of the amount minus any costs incurred relating to bank fees or credit card charges.
-
Any cancellation made with more than 48 hours notice will receive a full refund minus any costs incurred relating to bank fees or credit card charges.
-
Cancellation of diving made by us on the day of travel or course start due to your not being medically cleared to dive or failure to produce proof of certification, will not be eligible for a refund. However, in some circumstances, an alternative date can be arranged to allow for time to obtain either or both of the aforementioned.
-
If for any reason a scuba diving Great Barrier Reef course cannot be completed, a part refund will be offered based on incomplete training elements.
-
Scuba IQ (ABN 76 810 769 277 ) reserves the right to cancel or change any bookings due to weather/environmental conditions or any other unforeseen circumstances.
