Diving Cairns? Try Port Douglas instead with this great offer.
The PADI Open Water Diver certification is the world’s most popular and widely recognised scuba diving licence and we take you to some of the best coral reef locations to explore.
Over four days, under expert supervision, using our high quality equipment, you will learn the skills required to dive to an advanced level.
For a limited time only, this course costs $895 per person for four people (save $655 per person), $995 per person for three people (save $555 per person), $1195 per person for two people (save $355 per person) or $1450 per person (save $100). This special offer is only available for bookings made before December 25, 2017, with bookings valid to use until May 2018.
No previous experience with scuba is necessary as we will guide you through all of the essential aspects of safe diving including equipment preparation, dive planning and problem management.
This is all done by completing the 3 parts of the Open Water Course plus additional Advanced training.
This is a 4-day course with prior PADI eLearning. The PADI eLearning is paid directly to PADI and takes 6-10 hours to complete.
Confined Water Training on Day 1 of your training is where you make first contact with the world of scuba and feel for the first time what it is like to breathe and move underwater.
?In the comfort of a swimming pool, at the Mirage Country Club, Port Douglas, you will learn everything from assembling your own equipment, adjusting your buoyancy and  hand signals through to what to do in an emergency?.
First, we show you an exercise and then we’ll ask you to try. Once all of the different skills have been mastered there will be time for us to improve and perfect so that you are ready for your open water training dives.
Then, to finish off the session, we complete a ‘mini-dive’ to give you a little taste of what to expect when we go to the Great Barrier Reef for your Open Water training dives.
For the Open Water Training you’ll spend 2 days (6 dives) diving aboard locally-owned ‘Calypso Reef Cruises’ dive boats, visiting some of the best reefs to be found in the Port Douglas area.
Once all of the training requirements have been completed  – typically at the end of the first dive on the second day, we’ll take you on 2 extra guided dives so you can use all of your newly acquired skills to explore the Great Barrier Reef at your own pace.
For the Advanced training, we spend an additional day on the Outer Reef teaching you the technical skills required to explore deeper parts of the reef for longer.

About Us
Scuba IQ was formed in 2016 by dive professionals Martin Connolly and Louise Gill who between them bring
more than 25Â years of experience in the scuba diving industry.
They have worked in a variety of locations including New Zealand, Thailand, Turkey, The
Philippines, Spain, Malaysia & Mozambique.
Martin Connolly first learned to dive two decades ago in the cold, dark challenging conditions of New Zealand’s South Island where he then went on to begin his career as a Scuba diving Instructor.
Over the last 15 years of working as an Instructor, Martin has gained the skills and experience which enable him to deliver high quality diving tours and courses.
These experiences include working on a long-running coral reef rehabilitation project in Thailand.
In his capacity as a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, Martin has assisted with the teaching of dive instructors.
This has also seen him fill the role of an interpreter on Instructor Examinations, as Martin is fluent in Spanish, while over the years he has also taught divers in French, Italian & German.
Louise Gill has spent many years working in dive centre management positions.
A large proportion of this time saw her based in Asia, where she managed some of the busiest dive centres in the region.
During this time, Louise gained an intimate understanding of the most important aspects of a dive operation.
This coupled with her attention to detail and friendly personality make Louise the ideal fit in her role as administrator for Scuba IQ where she handles all of the day-to-day running of the business.
